Cop accused of swindling 20K from man on pretext of providing job in JKP arrested in Anantnag

Srinagar, Jan 6 (GNS): A constable rank policeman has been arrested in Anantnag, for cheating a civilian on pretext of providing him job as a follower in Jammu & Kashmir Police.

Officials privy to the matter told GNS that, “Police Station Achabal have received a Complaint on 5-01-23 from Tasaduq Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gh Mohd Sheikh, resident of Shehlipora Achabal that one person namely Umar Farooq, son of Late Farooq Ahmad Ganie, resident of Tailwani Achabal, who is working as constable in JandK Police Department and is posted in IRP 6Th Battalion has cheated him on the pretext of providing him a Job of follower in JandK Police and has extorted rupees 20,000 from him.”

“The accused person has provided him with a fake appointment order”, they said.

“Accordingly FIR U/S 420,468,120-B IPC was registered in Police Station Achabal and the accused person was arrested”, adding further investigation of the case is in process. (GNS)
