12 Persons Injured in Separate Road Mishaps in Kupwara, Anantnag

 

Srinagar, Jan 19 (GNS): At least twelve persons were injured in separate road mishaps in Kupwara and Anantnag on Thursday.

Reports reaching GNS said that four persons suffered injuries after a private car bearing registration number JK09B 9125 driven by one Mushtaq Ahmad Hajam (36) collided with a deodar tree at Rantsinard Lolab. Four persons, including the driver, suffered injuries in the accident.

The injured persons identified as; Mohammad Sarwar Hajam (60), Sajad Ahmad Tantry (29) and Abdul Majeed Hajam (30) – all residents of Gagal Lolab, were taken to a nearby hospital from where one individual with serious injuries was referred to GMC Baramulla for further treatment.

In a separate accident, eight persons suffered injuries after two Alto cars collided near Aabshar Park in Anantnag district.

As per reports, two cars bearing registration numbers JK09A 4442 and HR33D 6162 collided, resulting in injuries to eight persons.

The injured persons identified as; Khursheed Ahmad Lone (38), Arbeena Akhter (18 yrs), Abid Hussain Sheikh (35), Shafia Begum (32), Ishfaq Ahmad Kuchay, Rohail Nabi, Abid Mushtaq and Abid Shafi were taken to Primary Health Centre Seer, from where two of them were referred to GMC Anantnag for further treatment.

The police in the meantime informed to have taken cognizance into both the accidents for further investigations. (GNS)

Upon persistent questioning, the accused, the officer said, divulged that he threw down the mobile-phone, he used to contact his handlers based in Pakistan, into a water body at Saidapora near Aiwa bridge – falling along Ali Jan road – after committing the act. “The accused has dropped other incriminating material at a separate place which also falls along the same stretch”, the officer said. “To take the investigation to a logical end, it was felt imperative to bring out the mobile-phone and other incriminating material out of the water body”, the officer said adding, “In this pursuit a massive operation has been launched, at both the specified places, since this morning where we have sought help of Marcos, SDRF and Navy personnel.” “We hope that the required material is found and brought out successfully, which will help us a great deal to proceed with the investigations”, the officer said further. Notably, Special Investigation Team was constituted under the DIG, Central Kashmir to further probe the incident. Pertinent to mention here that, two residents of Amritsar Punjab came under a militant attack in Shalla Kadal area in Srinagar on February 7, 2024. While one Amrit Pal died instantly, his other colleague Rohit who suffered critical injuries in the incident succumbed a day later. (GNS)
