Power demand increased, PDD ensuring minimum curtailment: AEE Qazigund
Qazigund, Feb 01 (KNO): Unscheduled power cuts are taking a heavy toll on people in several villages of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district from the past few days, locals said on Wednesday.
Residents of Panzath, Wangund, Tanjloo, Dalwach, Kewa and adjoining have alleged that Power Development Department (PDD) is resorting to unscheduled power cuts in the areas for the past few days.
Locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that their areas are not even getting power supply as per the schedule announced earlier. “Our village is hardly getting power supply for few hours since last several days due to which we are suffering a lot in this bone chilling winter, ” Irfan Ahmad, a local from Panzath village said.
“We have taken up the issue with authorities who are assuring us of improvement in the power schedule, but on ground nothing happens,” a local from Dalwach said. The locals have now requested concerned higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
Speaking to KNO, Mohammad Yousuf, Assistant Executive Engineer PDD Qazigund said that they are keeping the curtailments very low in Qazigund areas. He said that due to increasing power demand, some areas face curtailment. “The people will get a better power supply in future”, he said—(KNO)
