J&K: 17 casualties reported in November
Srinagar, Dec 1, KNT: Seventeen persons including 7 local militants were killed in November this year. Seventeen casualties – the highest in any month this year were reported in September only. Except the September and November, the casualties due to militancy-related incidents were recorded below the number 17.
The data available with the news agency Kashmir News Trust reveals that 7 local militants, 2 non-local militants, 2 infiltrators, 5 soldiers, and a BSF personnel were killed in November in Jammu and Kashmir.
There were 5 encounters between joint forces and militants in November that raged in the Kathohalan area of Shopian, Samnu Kulgam, Kalakote Rajouri, and Arihal Pulwam. Besides there was a gunfight in Parigam Pulwam where militants managed to break the cordon.
The 7 local militants killed in November in Kashmir Valley were Maisar Ahmed Dar alias Adil of Vishroo Shopian, Yasif Bhat of Kulgam, Sameer Ahmed Shiekh, Danish Ahmed Thokar, Ubaid Patr and Hunzara Shah all residents of Shopian and Kifayat Ayoub Alaie from Pinjora Shopian.
Five soldiers who lost their lives in a fierce gunbattle in Rajouri were identified as Captain M V Pranjal from Mangalore, Karnataka; Captain Shubham Gupta from Agra, UP; Havildar Abdul Majid from Ajote, Poonch; Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht from Nainital, Uttarakhand and paratrooper Sachin Laur from Aligarh, UP.
Besides, a BSF head constable Lal Fam Kima from Aizwal in Mizoram was killed in cross-border firing in the Ramgarh Sector of the Samba district.
Two infiltrators were killed in the Kali Uri Sector along LoC in the Baramulla district. [KNT]
