Diverse group of participants discuss issues, IGP Kashmir outlines significance of debate

Srinagar Aug 16(KNC): Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir Friday organized a debate competition on the topic “Human Rights Violations can’t be controlled without controlling crimes by organized criminal syndicates including terrorist outfits, human trafficking gangs, and narcotic smugglers.”

The event took place at the conference hall of PCR Kashmir, bringing together a diverse group of participants to discuss this subject matter.

In a statement to news agency—Kashmir News Corner (KNC), during the inaugural speech, IGP Kashmir V. K. Birdi-IPS extended a warm welcome to the esteemed jury members Parvaiz Hussain Kachroo, Principal Kashmir Law Collage Srinagar (Rtd Principal District & Sessions Judge) as chairman, Laeeq Ahmad Dar (JDP Crime Hqrs J&K) as member, Qazi Abdul Qayoom (JDP ZPHQ) as member and Manzoor Ahmad Mir (CPO ZPHQ) as member, together with all the participants.

He outlined the significance of the debate topic, emphasizing how organized criminal syndicates, including terrorist groups, human traffickers, and narcotic smugglers, contribute significantly to human rights abuses. V K Birdi-IPS provided valuable context and set the stage for a robust and insightful discussion among the participants.

The debate aimed to highlight the interconnected nature of Human Rights Violations and organized crime, emphasizing the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to tackle these problems effectively.

Participants presented their arguments with depth and clarity, shedding light on how organized criminal syndicates, including terrorist organizations, human traffickers, and narcotic smugglers, contribute to widespread human rights abuses.

Finally, prize distribution ceremony was held, in which winner of best district team was given to PD Awantipora and PD Sopore was declared as runner up best district team.

Moreover, Suhail Reshi (DySP) was declared as 1st individual winner, Shri Sheeraz (Ct, EXK-195992) and Shri Tariq Ahmad (Inspector, EXK-022586) were declared winners at 2nd and 3rd positions respectively,—(KNC)
