Boy slips to death in Dal Lake after losing balance in row-boat
Srinagar, May 16: An 8-year-old boy died after losing balance in a row boat outside his house in Dal Lake Srinagar.
Locals said that the boy as per routine stopped his row boat outside his house. As he stood up to de-embark from the boat, he lost balance and fell into the water body.
Locals fished out his body shortly after the incident.
The incident occurred in Guchi Mohalla inside the Dal Lake.
Ghulam Hasan, the Mohalla president told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the boy was well-trained in rowing the boat, however, unfortunately, he slipped into the lake after losing balance.
He identified the victim as Nasrullah Gucchu son of Muhammad Yaqoob.
Locals appealed to authorities to maintain the normal water level in the lake. They said authorities have raised the water level of Dal Lake to make it look more beautiful. [KNT]
