Srinagar, Oct 12 (KNO): The enforcement team of Regional Transport Office (RTO) Kashmir on Thursday seized three vehicles of an unregistered cab service company, operating in Srinagar. The drivers were also arrested, officials said.
The vehicles were seized during a surprise operation launched on the directions of RTO Kashmir.
While speaking to the media, the enforcement team, led by Dr. Farhana Asgar, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Srinagar, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the sting operation was carried out based on a complaint regarding fraudulent cab services being operated in Srinagar under the name ‘Jugnoo Cab Services.’
“These services are unauthorized, and I would like to request the public not to book such cab services,” she said.
She further added that, Jugnoo Cab Services took bookings online, and they are not registered with the Motor Vehicle Department, lacking the necessary authorization and accountability. “The said cab service was also overcharging fares and mistreating customers, as several complaints have been received by the department,” she further added.
“We have received multiple complaints about these fraudulent companies, and we are investigating the matter. In this regard, we have seized three vehicles, and their respective drivers were also taken into custody. The investigation will also continue further, and the crackdown on such fraudulent activities will persist in the future,” she added—(KNO)
